The Special Education Learning Labs are an indispensable program at Loyola.  The program provides for the special needs of the exceptional child – academic, emotional or behavioral.  The main objectives include building self-concepts, increasing productivity through behavior modification and enhancing the learning environment with highly motivating instructional materials and one-on-one interaction with the Learning Lab teachers.  In the Learning Labs, the children are given a series of diagnostic tests and then placed in their appropriate level for learning.  The program runs five days a week in the mornings.  In the afternoons, the children return to their homerooms for regular classes.

Loyola hosts a Title I Program sponsored through the Denver Public Schools and the Federal Government.  The requirements include (1) that children must be 1 year below grade level in Language Arts and (2) the child must qualify by address for inclusion in the program.  A Title I Program Teacher comes to Loyola three times a week and works with the children on reading exercises.  This small group activity has allowed the children participating to improve significantly in their language arts skills.  Children in grades 3-6 attending this program take the CSAP test each year to measure their progress.

Loyola Before School/After School Programs are available to all students.  The morning session is from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM and the afternoon session is from 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM. The program is available on teacher in-service days, holidays and during the summer months and is licensed through the state of Colorado.

The Library provides every child the opportunity to check out books of their choice, a place to research school projects and an atmosphere of quiet study.

Art classes are conducted on a weekly basis, allowing the children to study artists and show their creative skills on various projects.

Physical Education at Loyola takes place in many forms.  The children have 2 adult-supervised recess periods daily.  Additionally, once a week, a PE teacher comes to Loyola and conducts classes in PE and health.
